The wonderful and extraordinary construction situated along the Parliament Street nearby Connaught Place is exciting and informative place for all whether they are children or adult. This structure is popularly known as Jantar Mantar, which constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh. Of course, this structure is centuries old, but it is adorned by the modern and advanced technology, which portrays a very good example of amalgamation of religion and science. Above all, this structure is still used to determine the position of astral bodies.

Above all, the interiors are magnificent with a towering curved roof and polished stone floors. Its extensive arches into the smooth walls create a wonderful pretentious appearance.

Though, there are various structures, but the purpose and motto of each of them is designed accordingly:

Samrat Yantra

Samrat Yantra:
The measurement of this structure is – 114 feet long, 70 feet high, and 10 feet thick and has triangle shape. Furthermore, it has 128 feet long hypotenuse, which is parallel to the Earth’s axis and points toward the North Pole. It is designed in such a manner that on both side of the triangle is a quadrant indicating hours, minutes, and seconds. The purpose of giving such kind of design is to measure the declination and other relevant coordinates of different heavenly bodies.

 

Mishra Yantra

Jayaprakash Yantra: It comprises of a hollow hemispheres. In this hemisphere there is wire stretched between the points of their rim. And it is used to align the position of a star with various markings or a window's edge.
